How to remember every place you visit on a trip
Photos capture moments. They rarely preserve the full route: the neighborhood you wandered through, the roadside stop, or the café you found by accident. A private automatic location history can fill those gaps—if it is set up before you leave.

1. Install before departure
WHIB records future location history. It cannot recreate places from before installation and it does not import an old Google Maps Timeline. Install it before the first day you care about remembering.
2. Give it the permissions background recording needs
During setup, grant Always location access and keep Precise Location enabled. If iOS later changes those permissions, automatic background history may become incomplete. WHIB uses motion signals and location changes to decide when to record rather than checking GPS continuously.
3. Test it on an ordinary day first
Do not make a once-in-a-lifetime trip the first test. Take a short drive or walk, visit a place, and reopen WHIB later. Confirm the day timeline contains useful places before departure. If it does not, check location permissions and make sure tracking is active.
4. Expect place names to finish resolving
The phone first records location breadcrumbs, then resolves useful place names. That lookup needs a data connection. If a place name is missing while you are offline, reconnect and open WHIB later. The Atlas view summarizes countries, regions, cities and locales within the history currently available to you.
5. Keep the history you care about backed up
Your WHIB history stays on your iPhone or in your own iCloud backup, not on WHIB's servers. Keep iCloud backup enabled if you want your recorded history included in your device backup. A WHIB subscription unlocks older recorded history; it is not a separate backup service.
What “automatic” does—and does not—mean
You do not need to check in at every stop. WHIB quietly records location breadcrumbs as you move. But no iPhone app can promise a perfect record of every doorway or moment: permissions, power state, signal conditions and how long you remain somewhere can affect what is captured. Use WHIB as a personal memory aid, not as certified travel, employment or compliance evidence.

Can WHIB recover an old trip?
