Listen Up Brookline – SMS Terms & Conditions
By texting and interacting with the Listen Up Brookline service (“Service”), you agree to the following Terms & Conditions.
1. Eligibility
You must be 18 years of age or older and reside in Brookline, Massachusetts. By using the Service, you confirm that you meet these requirements.
2. Opt-In and Consent to Messaging
By initiating contact via SMS to this number, you opt in to receive conversational SMS messages from Listen Up Brookline and consent to receive replies related to your messages.
Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.
3. Purpose of the Service
The Service is intended to collect community feedback relevant to Brookline. Messages should be limited to local concerns, observations about town services or infrastructure, and constructive feedback intended to benefit the Brookline community.
Messages unrelated to Brookline or lacking community relevance may be disregarded.
4. Acceptable Use
You agree not to submit:
- Abusive, threatening, or harassing content
- Spam or promotional messages
- False, misleading, or intentionally inaccurate information
- Content that violates any applicable laws or regulations
We reserve the right to block or restrict users who violate these guidelines.
5. Privacy and Data Handling
Your phone number and personal identifying information will not be shared with the Town of Brookline or external parties in ordinary operation.
Feedback submitted via SMS will be aggregated, anonymized, and summarized before being shared. Feedback is shared with the Town of Brookline on a periodic basis, not in real time.

6. Opt-Out
You may opt out at any time by replying STOP to unsubscribe from further messages. For help, reply HELP.
After opting out, you will no longer receive SMS responses unless you reinitiate contact.
7. No Guarantee of Action
Submission of feedback does not guarantee a response, action by the Town of Brookline, or resolution of any reported issue. The Service is intended as a communication channel, not a formal complaint or reporting system.
8. Not for Emergencies
Do not use this Service for emergencies. For urgent matters, contact 911 or the appropriate local authorities.
9. Modifications
We may update these Terms & Conditions at any time. Continued use of the Service constitutes acceptance of any changes.
